Cheryl O'Brien

Ms. Cheryl O’Brien earned her undergraduate degree in 1989 from The Pennsylvania State University in University Park,  Pennsylvania. She earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in 1993 from Western New England College School of Law in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she was Managing Editor of the Western New England Law Review, her student law review note was selected for publication in the school’s legal journal, and she received the Henry Downey Award for outstanding contribution to the law review. Over the years, she has represented a diverse group of clients in various aspects of the law.

Before moving to North Carolina, Ms. O’Brien worked at the headquarters of the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, Maryland, as a decision writer, where she wrote hundreds of social security disability decisions and developed extensive knowledge of and a passion for this area of the law. Since her move to North Carolina in 2019, she has been associated with the law firm of Kathleen Shannon Glancy, PA, where she dedicates 100 percent of her practice to helping disabled individuals obtain social security disability benefits.

Ms. O’Brien is a member of the National Organization for Social Security Claimant’s Representatives (NOSSCR) and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ). 

Ms. O’Brien is licensed in Virginia (active), Nevada (inactive), and Massachusetts (retired).
